Roy Wilkie was a member of the Socialist Unity Party in Christchurch if the late 1980s. Worked at Countdown.

Te Roopu Rawakore

Circa 1988 Peter Hall-Jones, Roy Wilkie, Kate Budge, Angela McGregor, Hine Ryland and Wai Makalio took over leadership of Te Roopu Rawakore.

Moscow

In 1987/88 Peter Hall-Jones spent five months studying in Moscow with Wellington activist Roy Wilkie. The pair shared a room in Moscow, the rent of $5 per week being paid by Soviet government who also generously provided an allowance to pay for basic food stuffs.
