The Conference on the World after Nuclear War took place in 1983. The conference was attended by 700 people including dozens of scientists as well as people from foundations; from the 31 sponsoring organizations and other public interest groups; from religious, educational and medical institutions; from th epress, the U.S. government and several other governments; and from businesses such as Lockheed and Random House.[1]
