Meeting with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

On September 21, 2010, Alton Maddox attended a meeting at a midtown hotel with President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and approximately 130 members of the U.S. "peace and social justice movements", as well as "major figures in the Black activist community."[1]

Voting Rights Act forum

The 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was the subject of a forum scheduled for February 2015 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School No. 6.

The forum, from 6-10 p.m., featured Richard Smith, New Jersey state president of the NAACP, as the keynote speaker. Other invited speakers included Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a Mercer County Democrat who was elected to Congress in 2014, John Harmon, president of the African-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, Lawrence Hamm, chairman of the People’s Organization for Progress, and Alton Maddox, chairman of the United African Movement.

Tammeisha Smith, a vice president with the Alamo Insurance Group, will serve as moderator. The forum is sponsored by a Passaic organization, the Community Unity Leadership Council, and the People’s Organization for Progress.[2]
