Nixon impeachment campaign

In 1974, Ted, Glick, a former member of the Harrisburg Conspiracy was cordinating national efforts to impeach President Nixon, in Washington. Earlier Glick had led a workshop at the New American Movement convention in Lexington.^[1]

Glick admitted that impeachment demands were not necessarily socialist, but that the successful removal of Nixon, may be one positive step towards beginning a mass socialist movement in America.

NAM

In 1975 Ted Glick and Karen Smith, (Members At Large), wrote an article in the NAM Discussion Bulletin No 9, March 1975, entitled "On Carrying Through Decisions".^[2]

Hard Times Conference

In 1976 Ted Glick for Mass Party Organizing Committee, New York attended the Weather Underground and Prairie Fire Organizing Committee organized Hard Times Conference Jan 30 - Feb 1 at the University of Chicago.^[3]

NCIPA

Ted Glick, representing the National Committee for Independent Political Action addressed the Third Party Summit in Washington, D.C. June 1995.

The National Committee for Independent Political Action has been working since 1984 to build a strong, united multi-racial movement for progressive change. Ted Glick of NCIPA, who attended the Third Parties conference, was confident that the Greens would join the national effort.

Pro Democracy Convention

Open Letter to Obama on Iran

In 2008 Ted Glick, Climate Activist signed an online petition “A Open Letter to Barack Obama on Iran”.^[5]

In 2009 Ted Glick served on the National Steering Committee of the Independent Progressive Politics Network^[7].

IPS Connection

On Monday, October 12, 2009, David Schwartzman gave a presentation at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC on the science and politics of catastrophic climate change. The event was sponsored by the Metro DC chapter of Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism and the DC Metro Science for the People.

Renee Carter chaired the meeting which was attended by over 20 mostly activists and representatives of environmental and progressive organizations. After David’s in-depth, but clear explanation of the complex science of both climate change and how the catastrophic results can be prevented, Ted Glick of CCAN spoke about the latest environmental legislation and the organizing of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, a major environmental group in the Washington area.

Walter Teague discussed the political and strategic issues of prevention of C3 and Renee Carter described the political work and approach of CCDS. Valuable contacts both new and renewed were made and the impassioned discussion continued for over two hours.

Presented as an IPS/SALSA CLASS, David Schwartzman’s address on the threat of catastrophic climate change ("C3") that now confronts all humanity, explored the questions: “What are the biggest obstacles to prevention? Why this challenge is also an unprecedented opportunity to end the global rule of capital. Why is it critical to take seriously the sciences of climatology and thermodynamics for C3 prevention and to construct the other world that is possible? And why 21st Century Socialism will either be Ecosocialism or simply will remain the narrow vision of political sects?” ^[8]

Ultimately, many of the sentiments expressed by the tea-baggers are deeply dishonest, deeply un-American. We need to keep them in their rightful place as a distinct, if sometimes loud, sometimes dangerous, political minority. We will do that to the extent that we out-organize them at the grassroots, engage in creative and significant mass action, and pressure the federal government to pass genuinely progressive legislation. That’s the way we’ll keep down the supporters of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.”
