Miriam G. Apter nee Gutstadt (born 1912 in San Francisco, died April 23, 2010 in Chicago) was a Chicago-based activist for "human rights, child welfare, women's rights, and education" into her late 90s.
Miriam Apter was the wife of David C. Apter and mother of David Apter (married to Susann Apter), John Apter (married to Sherry Apter), and Carol Reichard (married to Keith Reichard). She was the grandmother of Kevin Apter (married to Stacy Apter), Greg Apter (married to Leslie Apter), Steve Apter (married to Tina Apter), Bob Apter (married to Cindy Apter), Dr. Janice Lyons (married to Michael Apter), Brian Reichard, and Scott Reichard. She was the great-grandmother of Morgan Apter, Jacob Apter, Nathan Apter, Ben Apter, Noah Apter, Talia Apter, Joey Apter, Robert Apter, Rachel Apter, Ryan Apter, Randy Apter, Russell Apter, David Lyons and Jonathan Lyons. She was the sister of Richard Gutstadt (married to Dorothy Gutstadt), Dr. Joseph Gutstadt (married to Elaine Gutstadt), and Sylvia Olcott (married to Irwin Olcott).

Apter was a member of the city's Human Relations Commission since it began under Mayor Richard J. Daley and served until she was 95.
