John L. Thornton is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Brookings Institution.[1] Between July 1, 2008–June 30, 2009, Thornton contributed at least $1,000,000 to the Brookings Institution.[2]
New America Foundation
As at May 4, 2010, John L. Thornton served on the leadership council for the New America Foundation.[3] Founded in 1999 by Ted Halstead, the Foundation is a leftist public policy institute which claims to be nonpartisan, and seeks pragmatic solutions to "the next generation of challenges facing the United States".[4][5]
