George Bachrach

George Bachrach, an attorney, served three terms as the state senator representing Boston, Cambridge, Watertown, and Belmont, and is the founder of Bachrach & Company, a public affairs and strategic marketing firm. He currently teaches journalism at Boston University and provides commentary on NECN-TV.
For many years Bachrach has served as a board member and consultant to several nonprofits, working on environmental projects involving smart growth development, green building tax credit policy, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway. He was also the first campaign manager and administrative assistant to Congressman Ed Markey, who now heads the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.[1]

In June 1982 Boston Democratic Socialists of America chapter members were working on the campaigns of State representatives Tom Gallagher and John Businger (both DSA members), State Senator George Bachrach and representative Barney Frank.[2]
Environmental League
In October 2007, the Environmental League of Massachusetts named former state senator George Bachrach as president, the first new leader in 14 years for the 109-year-old nonprofit organization. He succeeded James Gomes.
The Environmental League of Massachusetts, based in Boston, is dedicated to protecting the state’s air, water, and land. It does by voicing citizens' concerns, educating the public, advocating for strong environmental laws, and ensuring that the laws are implemented and enforced.[3]
