Christy Hammer

Christy Hammer has been appointed associate professor of social and behavioral sciences, at the University of Southern Maine. Dr. Hammer, who resides in Scarborough, earned her doctoral degree in sociology from the University of New Hampshire. Her major area of specialization was in sociology of education. Prior to coming to LAC, Hammer served as associate professor of education and director of secondary education at Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. She has also worked as a consultant in social studies and in minority affairs/civil rights for the NH Department of Education. Dr. Hammer is teaching sociology and deviance and social control, and is also working with teacher education students in a course on how to teach social studies at the elementary and middle school level.[1]
