Barbara Garson

Barbara Garson (born July 7, 1941) is a a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, author and playwright. She is sometimes referred to as the "little old Jewish lady".
Early Years
Garson was one of 800 arrested with Mario Savio during these early student protests of the 1960s. In 1969 she began work at The Shelter Half, an anti-war GI coffee house. While here she contributed articles to a Seattle anarchist newsletter and an anti-war show for soldiers which toured G.I. venues.

Socialist Party USA Involvement
Garson was the Socialist Party USA's replacement nominee for Vice President in 1992 after the original nominee died. Members within the party strongly encouraged to run for this and various other offices in the party, however Garson declined.[4]
Socialist Scholars Conference 1992
Barbara Garson; Don Bacheller, Newspaper Guild and Robbin Gillespie were speakers on the Crippled Professionals: Mental & Physical Hazards in Post-Industrial Jobs panel at the Tenth Annual Socialist Scholars Conference. The conference was held April 24-26, 1992 at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, New York City.[5]
New Politics
As of 2009 Barbara Garson served as a sponsor of New Politics, magazine almost completely staffed and run by members of Democratic Socialists of America[6].
Campaign for Peace and Democracy
Garson is listed as an endorser of the Campaign for Peace and Democracy, as of March 15, 2010.[7]
